French Country – South Bay Home I
This 6,400-square-foot, French country-style home was designed and built by the brother team of architect Patrick Cunningham and general contractor Michael Cunningham. Presenting an old-world stone façade with traditional arched roof dormers and a distinctive slate hip roof, this chateau-inspired residence exudes a rustic warmth throughout its expansive interior.
A gothic-style arched doorway opens into a high-ceilinged living room, featuring a large precast stone hearth and a sweeping curved staircase with detailed iron banister. The outsized country kitchen boasts a family-style island that stretches 18 feet and includes a custom-made, 4-foot stone farmhouse sink with three faucets.
Exposed dark wood beams, finished concrete floors, hand-made La Cornue range and authentic wood-burning fireplace complete the room, but a detour through the walk-in pantry transports you to the second “dirty” kitchen, perfect for use during large events.
Additionally, the spacious 12,400-square-foot lot cradles a large backyard containing a fire pit, built-in barbeque island with pergola, pool with family slide and spa, and a detached, 575-square-foot guesthouse.
